Shall we catch a flight to Italy? 🇮🇹

We’ve had more and more international destinations over the last year or two and it’s such a delight to learn about new places. This was a fun map to create!

I’ve seen lots of people doing this kind of thin

I’ve seen lots of people doing this kind of thing, and I decided I wanted to give it a try. I have had one sheet each of this gorgeous paper for well over a year. I knew I was hanging onto it for something🤣. This is super easy to do and only took me maybe 15 minutes.

I used a 4 x 6 photo in an 8 x 10 mat. I wanted there to be a little bit more mat to show the pretty paper.

You don’t have to be super precise on this. I cut out the sheet of paper to fit over the mat with a little bit of overhang. That way when you glue it if you get slightly off, it’s not too big of a deal.

I use rubber cement as it’s fairly forgiving. And it’s helpful that it has the brush. Cover the mat with it and make sure to get the edges. Add the rectangular piece of paper and smooth it out really really well.

Once you’ve done that, you can use a razor blade or X-Acto to cut an X in the window of the mat. Then you can simply fold it over and paste it or glue it to the backside of the mat.

Use scissors to trim the edges of the mat and then pop it into a frame. Voila!

⭐️ You will rarely find me at the office this put together, tbh 😂 I’m pretty lowkey.

⭐️ I started playing tennis four years ago after never playing a sport in my entire life. I ended up loving it and now try to play every week if I can 🎾 If you want to learn, @creeksidetennis is a wonderful place!

⭐️ When this photo was taken I was 11 weeks pregnant with my now almost 2 year old baby boy. Life is very fun but chaotic with our two little people but I wouldn’t change a thing

⭐️ I’m a third generation Charlestonian and BEHS graduate

Classic invitations don’t need to be boring….here’s what you’re looking at 🙂

⭐️ a 2 color (black and gold) thermography print process. Thermography is RAISED above the paper. It always has a little sheen to it, and I particularly like it for gold. It’s a different look than foil but still very much gold.

⭐️ this invitation is printed on ECRU. Most of our invitations are on pearl, which is closer to white but still ivory. Ecru is a bit richer background color and more traditional (mom’s invitations were probably ecru 🙂)

⭐️ a belly band is a great place to bring in the wedding color with a traditional form invitation. This one is a beautiful blush with the William Aiken House gate!

Over the break we did a little one day playroom overhaul to surprise my daughter for her birthday and also make the space more friendly for all of us. Santa brought the kids @nuggetcomfort and they are the best! Love having a nice place to relax but most of the time they are being used for forts and gymnastics and fun.

I have always prioritized having colorful art in this space to make it playful and childlike. Finding the colorful light fixture on @wayfair was a win as it really levels it up!

We were exhausted by the end of the day but getting it done in one day was the way to go in our busy world. And the hidden fairy door just pleases me to no end!

Blue and white just-for-fun invitation reveal! I am loving creating these to really showcase what we can do right here in our studio. If you missed some of the behind the scenes, skip back to Monday’s post!

For a little explanation, this suite was flat printed as it really needs to be when you’re just making one for fun like I am. It would be extra amazing in letterpress 😍

But even with that, it required:

💛 A diecut and diecutting machine
💛 a cricut that we manipulate using design programs to cut what we want (in this case, to create a smaller version of the die cut I had)
💛 a grommet press
💛 multiple printers as the invitation printer doesn’t do envelopes and vise versa
💛 adhesive
💛 paper cutter
💛 heat process for duplexing the invitation
💛 other miscellaneous tools and supplies

I thought it might be helpful to understand how much goes into an invitation suite. It’s not always obvious from the pretty picture!
